The ELbow V2 is a medium-difficulty soldering kit. It is delivered as an unpopulated PCB, bags of parts, and instructions. Please review the documentation and make sure you're ready to solder the kit before ordering!
Our new ELbow V2 Kit is a convenient new way to control pieces of EL (electro-luminescent) wire, EL strips, or EL panels. It can turn six separate channels of EL wire on and off, and uses a pre-programmed ATtiny2313 microcontroller.
What makes the ELbow really useful is the ability to program custom sequences into memory without using a computer. No special cables or adapters, no writing code: simply use the pushbuttons to program up to six different sequences. Each output channel has a dedicated button, making it easy to set and preview the output channels during programming.
When not in programming mode, pressing the channel buttons directly selects one of six custom sequences. The remaining two buttons control the sequence speed. Each sequence can be set to its own run speed, and the speed settings are saved while power is disconnected.
The ELbow is also a fun soldering kit! It has a unique shape and uses only through-hole components. The silkscreen is very detailed and makes it easy to figure out where each part should be soldered. We recommend that you have previous soldering experience, good soldering equipment, and good solder before attempting this kit...it has about 200 pins to solder.

Our ELbow Kit is still in development. It will be released as Open Source Hardware when the production version is ready.
