Maker Faire 2008

Macetech & Darker Technologies Present:

Curiously Bright LED & Audio Extravaganza!

Darker Technologies and Macetech combine forces this year to bring Maker Faire Bay Area 2008 attendees a variety of original projects, including the following:
  • ShiftBrite (macetech): an incredibly easy and economical way to control many RGB LEDs to display millions of possible colors.
  • LED Grow Lights (Darker Tech.): custom designed powerful LED arrays deliver only the wavelengths that plants need, without wasting power elsewhere.
  • Giant LED Array (macetech): a full-color 16x24 pixel array almost five feet tall! Uses a unique Texas Instruments driver IC in an original way to control many more LEDs than usual.
  • Curiously Strong Component Audio (Darker Tech.): several high-quality audio processing and amplification subsystems built into Altoids tins and slotted into a custom rack mount. Includes crossovers, amps, equalizers, and more!
  • Curiously Shifty VU Meter: a collaboration between Darker Technologies and Macetech, this circuit interfaces to the Curiously Strong Component Audio system and controls ShiftBrite elements to display audio power with many modes and color schemes possible.

Be sure to stop by May 3rd and 4th at the Maker Faire Bay Area 2008, located at the San Mateo Fairgrounds. We won't be hard to find, just look for the bright glow!
